Ine Town is located at the northern tip of Tango Peninsula in Kyoto.

The scenery of approximately 230 wooden boathouses lining the calm waters of Ine Bay still reflects the history and lifestyle of the fishing town.

The boathouse inn KAGIYA stands as if blending in with the townscape, with only one private guest per day.

The renovated boathouse, which once housed boats and fishing equipment, allows guests to spend a relaxing time while enjoying the view of the ocean just below the windows.

The owner of this key shop is Mr. Kengo Kagi, a native of Ine Town, and his wife Mina. Mina used to run a coffee shop in her hometown, but when Kengo’s father became ill, the family made a U-turn. They renovated their family’s boathouse and opened it as an inn in 2009. Since then, the inn has been well known as a favorite of deep-rooted fans, with many regular guests who come back again and again.

What the couple values is not to offer a stiff-fisted hospitality, but to let guests experience life in Ine as it is. They want guests to spend a relaxing time while looking out over the window at the sea and the nostalgic townscape. This desire has created the unique comfort of this inn.

One of the main attractions of Kagiya is its meals featuring fresh seafood caught in Ine Bay. We are particular about local ingredients and buy them directly from the producers. Kengo’s desire for customers to enjoy seasonal fish at its most delicious time reflects his pride in “carrying the signboard of Ine’s fishermen” as well as his deep love for the region.

IKEUCHI ORGANIC was chosen for its comfort

The relationship between IKEUCHI ORGANIC and “Funaya no Yado Kagiya” began about six years ago.

Mr. Hiroyuki Kuroki, an architectural designer who worked on “Funaya Biyori,” a row of restaurants and cafes in Ine Town, introduced us to Mr. Masuda, our sales conductor, who visited the inn. Since then, I have been drawn to the couple’s personalities, and have come to visit them regularly, as if I were visiting a relative’s house.

As a result of our continued exchanges, about three years ago, all the towels used in the bathroom and around the hand-washing sinks were standardized to IKEUCHI ORGANIC. Currently, they use ” Organic 330 ” bath towels, face towels, and ” Organic 732 Bath Mat.

The decisive factor in introducing IKEUCHI ORGANIC was the comfort of the towels. When he happened to stay at a lodging facility that had introduced IKEUCHI ORGANIC, he was surprised at the difference in water absorbency and texture. The feeling of “totally different from other towels! He wanted to let the customers who visit Kagiya experience the same feeling. It was with this in mind that the decision was made to introduce these towels.

Many of the guests who have stayed at the hotel have praised the towels, saying that they were very comfortable. In fact, IKEUCHI ORGANIC’s Kyoto store is regularly visited by customers who say, “The towels I used at the key shop were so good that I came here to buy some for my home.

In addition, customers use the ” Organic 330 Kitchen Towel,” which is ideal for wiping dishes and glasses in the kitchen at Keyaki-ya. In addition to being highly absorbent, the towels have little fluff and leave no marks. The customer was very impressed, saying, “I have never seen kitchen towels like these before.

In January 2023, “Ofukawake,” an annex of Kagiya, opened in the innermost part of the boathouses in Ine. At this inn with a beautiful ocean view, all towels are made by IKEUCHI ORGANIC.

Ine Town now attracts many tourists from Japan and abroad, and there are whispers of overtourism in the area. However, Mr. Kengo, who has been running a locksmith shop for more than 15 years, says, “We are facing the problem of depopulation.

Compared to the past, when we had a depopulation problem and vague fears about the future, we are very happy now that so many people are paying attention to us. We are always welcome, so please feel free to visit Ine.

Mr. and Mrs. Kagi, who love Ine as it is, welcome you to “Funaya no Yado Kagiya” with a warm smile. Please visit for a pleasant stay.
